John Hyngstrom, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He has a surgical oncology practice at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and Intermountain Medical Center. His clinical practice includes resident physician and medical student education at both facilities. Hyngstrom's clinical practice focuses on patients with melanoma and cutaneous malignancies (skin cancers). His research interests include clinical trial development and enrollment as well as survivorship issues in cancer patients. Before coming to HCI, Hyngstrom completed a clinical surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and a research fellowship in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. He is board certified in surgery. Hyngstrom completed his medical degree and general surgical residency at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and the University of Chicago Medical Center.
