Dr. Quinn became a pediatrician because he loves children and wanted to help sick children have the chance to get well again. Pediatric hematology/oncology provided him that opportunity. Following completion of his fellowship at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, he returned to the East Coast and spent 20 years at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Quinn was primarily a clinician educator and took care of children with the full spectrum of blood diseases and cancer. He also directed the pediatric clerkship and helped establish the bone marrow transplant unit. Dr. Quinn subsequently returned to Los Angeles to be part of a much larger program than we had in Connecticut. He continues to be a clinician educator, oversees the direction of the inpatient oncology service and attends on the leukemia/lymphoma service. Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has an amazing pediatric oncology service. It is one of the largest in the country, has a very diverse patient population and offers tremendous opportunity for clinical research. Being part of the team caring for these children and their families provides great satisfaction for Dr. Quinn, especially whenever a child overcomes a malignant disease and again has that chance to grow up.
