I grew up in Baltimore, MD and attended college at the University of Maryland, College Park. I was accepted into the University of Maryland School of Medicine after my junior year of college and graduated in 1981. My residency training was done in Fairfax, VA and, following that, I worked in a traditional Family Practice setting as part of a multi-specialty group in Annapolis, MD from 1984-1994. Following my love of the mountains, I moved to Colorado in 1995 where I, agian, practiced in a traditional, multi-specialty medical group Family Practice setting in Colorado Springs, then Woodland Park from 1995-1999. I had been exposed to alternative medicine concepts going back to teenage years and medical school but had never felt the courage to abandon conventional medicine until the fall of 1999, when the pressures, and what I saw as the essential "enabling" and symptom-suprressing paradigm, of conventional medicine became too much for me to bear. I took a year off to examine what I really wanted to do and started my holistic practice in the fall of 2000, which I have been pursuing ever since. I have spent countless hours learning from the brightest minds in nutritional, functional, and altenative medicine I could find, as well as a few select extremely gifted healers who have been invaluable to me, both presonally and professionally.
