Dr. Jeri Kersten Mendelson began her professional career as a field wildlife biologist with a degree from the University of Wyoming. Her wildlife jobs took her to Wyoming, Northeastern Thailand and Eastern Oregon where she worked for the Ochoco National Forest. After leaving the Forest Service she attended the University of Oregon where she received a master’s degree studying bat echolocation. It was at the U of O where she met her husband, Bruce. For the next several years, she followed him to Northwestern University, University of Pittsburgh and finally to the University of Arkansas. Along this journey she taught anatomy and physiology labs and general biology. She attended the University of Arkansas medical school and dermatology residency program while her husband taught in the medical school and ran a medical research lab. Together they raised two active, Razorback-loving boys.
Dr. Mendelson is a specialist in all aspects of medical and surgical dermatology. She also specializes in cosmetic Botox. She has continued her educational interests by returning to Baylor University in 2016 for a tropical medicine diploma. She is a teaching faculty member for Wilderness Medicine Seminars where she has given lectures in the US, England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Nepal, Tanzania, Fiji, Peru, Argentina and Chile. In Medford and Ashland, she teaches at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. She’s active with school groups and community organizations in sun/skin awareness programs.
