Gerard Fulda, M.D., FACS, FCCM, FCCP, is the director of Christiana Care's Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Fulda received bachelor's degrees in science and chemistry from Loyola College, Baltimore, Md., and he graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore. His general surgical residency was at Christiana Care, and his fellowship in citical care and traumatology was at the University of Maryland's Institute for Emergency Medical Services System. He is currently a staff surgeon at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and an associate professor of Surgery at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. His administrative responsibilities include chairing the Surgical Critical Care Committee at Christiana Care, the Credentials Committee of the American College of Critical Care Medicine and the Membership Committee of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He is also past chair of the Surgical Section of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Fulda is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is the principal and co-author of over 30 peer-reviewed and multi-institute publications. Dr. Fulda's special interest areas include critical care research, evidence-based medicine and the management of patients with sepsis.
