In April 2012, Dr. Jeffrey Chen joined our suburban Phoenix hospitalCancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Western Regional Medical Center. What has impressed the board-certified radiation oncologist the most about working for CTCA is our overall commitment to caring for the whole patient. Among the innovative and advanced treatments and therapeutic technologies Dr. Chen utilizes at CTCA are TomoTherapy(r), intensity modulated radiation therapy, image guided radiation therapy, Varian Trilogy and the Calypso(r) 4D Localization System for delivering more precise prostate cancer radiation therapy. Dr. Chen earned a medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, New York. He then completed an internship at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, followed by a radiation oncology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Chen obtained a bachelors degree in health and society from the University of Rochester, where he was one of 10 students in the nation selected for early admission into both the undergraduate university and the medical school. Research has been an integral part of Dr. Chens studies for several years. While completing his residency, he participated in multiple research initiatives. He has also been a summer research fellow at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Chen has presented on the topic of bone density following radiation for extremity sarcomas at multiple conferences, including the prestigious American Society for Radiation Oncology annual meeting. , he has been published in the American Journal of Orthopedics and Orthopedics.
