Brief Intro

I have been practicing pulmonary, critical care and internal medicine at Long Beach Memorial Hospital since 1972. I have been the Medical Director of Respiratory Care Services and the Medical Critical Care Unit for 26 years. I am especially interested in helping patients with chronic lung disease to function at the best possible level by assisting them to be knowledgeable, active participants in their own care. To that end, I have been especially pleased to have helped develop and direct the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and Asthma Mangement Program at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. For the last 10 years, I have also been the physician director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program. I have enjoyed and benefitted from our hospital's affiliation with the U.C. Irvine School of Medicine. I serve as a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Director of the Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship Program and have held positions as Chief of the Department of Medicine and Vice Chief of Staff and served for two years as the President of the Long Beach Lung Association.
