I graduated summa cum laude from UC Berkeley, completed medical school at UC San Diego, residency in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care medicine at UCSD Medical Center. After all those years of training, I then moved back to the Bay Area to practice at Kaiser. I chose to be a Kaiser Permanente physician because I wanted to focus solely on the practice of medicine, and not the business of medicine. I am proud to be a member of this organization because I am part of a team of dedicated physicians striving to deliver the best evidence-based and compassionate care. As a pulmonologist and intensivist, I take care of patients with lung disease and critically ill patients in the ICU. The practice of pulmonary and critical care medicine is a challenging and gratifying experience, because I am able to help some of our sickest patients. It is also at times a heartbreaking experience, because despite all our best efforts, despite the most advanced medical technology, we are not always able to cure disease. But I am grateful that I am at least able to impact these patients lives in some way--offer comfort, and relieve suffering.
