Dr. James Slack joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Phoenix, Arizona in April 2022 as a Hematologic Oncologist. Dr. Slack has decades of experience treating hematologic malignancies and will play a key role in the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at CTCA® Phoenix. "I began my career in oncology as a researcher," Dr. Slack says. "But after a few years as a 'lab guy,' I realized that I wanted to take a more direct role in treating patients. This is what led me to transition out of the lab and into a clinical setting, where I could focus my work on providing patient-centered care." Dr. Slack retired in 2021 from his position as Director of the adult Bone Marrow Transplant program at the Mayo Clinic Arizona, but decided to re-join the workforce when offered the opportunity to bring his expertise to CTCA.
