Brief Intro

James E. Splichal, M.D., is board certified in medical oncology and hematology. He brings his patients a medical philosophy and sense of humor honed by his Nebraska roots, medical training in military hospitals and service as a U.S. Air Force physician. An international politics graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee, TN, and a medical school graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., Dr. Splichal also was assistant professor of medicine in the Uniformed Services University for Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He joined NEGACC in 2006 after four years as a stem cell transplant physician in hematology and oncology at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland AFB, TX. His research on Lovastatin for the prevention of Melanoma was published in the Proceedings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Proceedings of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis. He also wrote a summary of Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome that is included in the text, Pocket ICU Management. Dr. Splichal frequently gives entertaining talks to community groups about cancer prevention, early detection and the newest treatments. He is attending physician at Athens Regional Medical Center, St. Mary’s Healthcare System, Barrow Regional Medical Center in Winder, Walton Regional Medical Center in Monroe. His professional memberships include the Society of Air Force Physicians, American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology and formerly, American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
