Dr. Leo was born and raised in Hollywood, California. After experiencing New England life and weather while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for undergraduate studies in Biology, he fled back to the warmth of California. However, he made a right turn instead of a left turn, and ended up in medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, thereby trading in the cold winters of Massachusetts for the constant fog of San Francisco. After receiving his Medical Degree in 1981, Dr. Leo finally made it back home to Southern California, where he has remained warmly and happily since.
After completing residencies in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine, with a one-year stint as an Emergency Department Director in between, he established his practice in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine in Long Beach. Dr. Leo is presently Associate Chief Medical Officer at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, and Medical Director of Best Practice and Clinical Outcomes for the MemorialCare Health System. Dr. Leos family includes his wife Terri, two sons (Dan and Alex) who are in college, and his stepdaughter Jessica (through whom he is belatedly discovering all the joys of having a girl in the family). When spare time presents itself, his hobbies include cooking and woodworking and, fortunately, most of his fingers remain intact.
