Dr. James Farris is a board certified physician with UT Internal Medicine Lafollette. Originally from Lafollette, Tenn., Dr. Farris attended medical school at the University of Tennessee, and he completed his residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and the University of Alabama - Birmingham. He joined UT in 1997 and has been in the current location since 1999.
"I enjoyed science so much," he says. "So I became a doctor. Every day I look forward to the interaction with my employees and patients."
Dr. Farris area of clinical interest is cardiovascular medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and member of the Tennessee Medical Association.
"I chose primary care because I enjoy the relationships with my patients," he says. Dr. Farris and his wife, Nancy, have three children: Scott, Rena and James Jr. In his free time, Dr. Farris enjoys amateur radio, golf and civil war history.
