Dr. James B Parmele was born and raised in Kansas, He graduated from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas, receiving honors with dual majors in Chemistry and Biology. Before going on to medical school, he spent a research year with the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. In 2002, he graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine with a Doctorate of Medicine (MD). He then completed his residency in Anesthesiology and Pain Management fellowship training at Washington University in St. Louis. While at Washington University, he also completed his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
Dr. James B Parmele is board certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He has also received board certification in Interventional Pain Management from the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP) and has trained other physicians while serving as an ABIPP board examiner. He is active with the Minnesota Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and currently serves as the treasurer for this organization. He has been practicing interventional pain management in Minnesota since fellowship and his main interests are the treatment of spinal pain and spinal disorders.
