I was born in a small town in India, where my father was a physician. I remember him sharing interesting cases with me even when I was in the elementary school. One of his cases, I remember clearly, was of a little boy who had a fishhook through his finger and my father had to remove it. This might have sowed the seed in my mind to become a physician in the future. I completed my education in Mumbai, India and had 3 years of postgraduate training in pediatrics before coming to the United States. I did my residency at Rutgers University in New Jersey, and I came to UCLA to do my fellowship in pediatric cardiology. Upon completion I joined the staff of Kaiser Permanente, and I have enjoyed every easy and busy day working here.
