Brief Intro

About Me I grew up in Taiwan and graduated from Taipei Medical College in Taipei. After two years of military service, I went to the University of Kansas Medical Center for graduate study. I graduated with the master's degree in community health. After the quiet student life in Kansas, I had the most exciting and unforgettable internal medicine training in New York. Within those three years, I had seen many difficult and rare cases and met the enormous challenge of HIV epidemic. I also had the great honor to learn from Dr. C.T. Huang. He was the main reason that I chose the career of pulmonary medicine. I completed the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at University of California, Davis Medical Center. I liked the complexity of human physiology and the intensity of critical care medicine. I also developed interest and did the research on oncogenes. After the completion of my training, I returned to Taipei Medical College as an assistant professor for two years. When I joined the private practice in Oakland, I was very concerned and confused by the limitations of different health insurances. In addition, the lack of complete access to the patient medical information compromised the patient care. In contrast, Kaiser Permanente offered a much better integrated model for patient care and medical practice. Therefore, I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1997 after three years of private practice. In addition to English, I also speak Mandarin and Taiwanese. In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, fishing, and gardening.
