Dr. Kriel is the division head of pediatric orthopedic surgery at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center. She partic¬ularly enjoys caring for children with clubfoot and has been trained in the Ponseti method for clubfoot casting. She also focuses on hip dysplasia, limb deformity, neuromuscular conditions and the management of fractures. Born and raised in South Africa, Dr. Kriel moved to Houston during high school. She completed medical school and an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. During residency, Dr. Kriel also participated in a three-month pediatric and adult trauma rotation at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. She completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Texas Children's Hospital and the acclaimed Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston, TX. Today, she is also involved in several national professional societies. Her experience and education have allowed Dr. Kriel to develop a practice encompassing all musculoskeletal complaints. Her practice centers on helping children achieve full function of movement and activity, and she believes in the importance of patient-centered decisions and good communication.
