Henry Nasrallah, MD, has been a psychiatrist with UC Health and the University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Institute since 2003. He is nationally known for his expertise in neurobiology and the psychopharmacology of schizophrenia, and he received his neuroscience training at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Nasrallah is currently the vice chair for Education and Training, professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience and the director of the Schizophrenia Program at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Nasrallah was the associate dean for Faculty Development at the UC College of Medicine from 2003-2006. Prior to his career at UC Health, he served for 12 years as chairman for the Department of Psychiatry and professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at the Ohio State University Medical Center. He and his wife Amelia, also a faculty member at UC, have two children: a daughter who is a pediatrician at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center, and a son who is the national marketing manager for a large company. Dr. Nasrallah and his wife are delighted with their 5 grandchildren ages 3-8.
Dr. Nasrallah is the editor-in-chief of Schizophrenia Research and Current Psychiatry. He was awarded the highest research honor at The Ohio State University in 1990 and was recognized by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Ohio with the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award in 1996 and 1997. He was honored with the Presidents Award from the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association in 2007 and the Distinguished Service Award from the Cincinnati Psychiatric Society in 2008. Dr. Nasrallah received the Golden Apple Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Cincinnati Department of Psychiatry Residents in 2009.
