Dr. Kotz combines his interest in sports and medicine by working with the Basalt High School sports teams and serving in various roles with U. S. cycling teams. He is the UCI representative for U. S. Cycling, an official team physician for the U. S. Mountain Biking Team, and the performance enhancement team physician liaison for the U. S. Mountain Biking Team. He is an associate professor in the Department of Family Practice at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. His other interests include preventive medicine and geriatrics.
