Gerson Manriquez, MD, experienced health disparities firsthand during his childhood. “That just made a huge impact on me growing up,” he said. “And at that time, I was determined to do something, not just for my family, but also for the greater good — for the community as a whole.” Dr. Manriquez, an OB/GYN at Methodist Physicians Clinic, gained an interest for science in high school. “I chose to pursue the medical field because I knew I could combine my love for science and passion to serve marginalized communities,” he said.
