Dr. Weghorst decided to become an Obstetrician/Gynecologist because it allowed him the opportunity to be part of a special and unique time in a woman's life-the birth of her child. "Witnessing the joy and sense of wonder each mother feels after giving birth is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work," he says. He also enjoys the blend of medical and surgical challenges Obstetrics and Gynecology offers with the resulting opportunity to improve the quality of someone's life.
Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Weghorst earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, Texas. He completed his internship and residency at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has practiced in the greater Portland metropolitan area since that time. He also has done work with the Indian Health Service and volunteered in Guatemala. In addition to clinical duties, he is currently Chief Medical Officer for Providence Newberg Medical Center.
Dr. Weghorst has three children and one grandchild. He enjoys photography, running, bicycling, scuba diving, golf and travel during his time away from his practice.
