Dr. Geoffrey Ball grew up in Murray, KY where he attended Murray State University receiving his BS in Biology in 1998. Following college Dr. Ball attended University of Louisville for Dental School and received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry Degree in 2002. After graduation Dr. Ball did a year of advanced training at U of L.
He then served four years in the United States Air Force as a Dentist assigned to Wilford Hall Medical Center. In addition to his dental work Dr. Ball served as the preventive dentistry officer for Lackland Air Force Base. During this time Dr. Ball was deployed to Iraq where he was unofficially attached to the Army’s 257th Medical Company (Dental Services) as a general dentist in addition to his duties for the Air Force. Dr. Ball received both Air Force Commendation and Achievement medals for his service as well as being named 59th Dental Training Group Company Grade Officer of the Year for 2006.
Following Dr. Ball’s military service he elected to expand his knowledge and entered a one year General Practice Residency which focused on caring for patients with special needs (medically and mentally complicated patients) as well as those with dental fear and difficult treatment needs.
Dr. Ball enjoys all aspects of general dentistry; however, he views dentistry and dental disease as a medical condition and focuses on early treatment and prevention of dental diseases and conditions. He particularly enjoys treating children and hopes in the near future to again see special needs patients.
Dr. Ball is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and serves as the membership co-chair for Kentucky. In addition, Dr. Ball is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, and the Louisville Dental Society.
Dr. Ball became interested in dentistry while working on his Dentistry Merit Badge in the Boy Scouts. In addition to earning that merit badge he is an Eagle Scout and volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 233 in Elizabethtown. Dr. Ball’s other philanthropic interests include the Girl Scouts, Hospice House, and the Exercise and Cancer Recovery research program.
