Gary R. Gecelter, M.D., FACS, is the Director of the Department of Surgery at St. Francis and oversees the Hospitals growing noncardiac surgical program, which includes advanced technology and minimally-invasive techniques in esophageal, pancreatico-biliary, colon, urological, ear, nose and throat and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Gecelter served as the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System before joining St. Francis in 2008. Dr. Gecelter is a founding member of the Minimally Invasive Fellowship Council and a member of numerous national and international societies, including the Society of Surgical Oncology and Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and has been invited to lecture throughout the world, including the United Kingdom, South Africa, Chile, Argentina and Colombia.
