Dr. Kaufman was elected to the AOA Honorary Medical Society. She chaired the 2002 LA County Task force on the Fitness and Health and Fitness. She was honored by the California State Senate for her work with the LA Unified School District in banning the sale of sodas in school. She has served on the California State Task Force on Youth Fitness and Workplace Wellness and as a state delegate to the National Healthy School Summit. She was a delegate to the 2002 55th Assembly of the World Health Organization. She has been a director of Camp Chinnook, a camp for children with diabete, for over two decades.
