Dr. Francena Abendroth came to Bend Memorial Clinic from Northstar Neurology after studying at the Layton Aging and Alzheimer's Disease Center at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) where she completed specialty training in Dementia and a fellowship in Geriatric Neurology at the Portland VA Medical Center. As an Instructor at OHSU, she provided lectures on both dementia and headache. She is board certified in Neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology.
Prior to her fellowship, she received her medical degree and completed neurology residency at OHSU, after receiving undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has always considered Oregon home and first moved to Bend in 1983, to join her extended family, before leaving to travel and pursue her education.
In addition to making use of her advanced training in Dementia and Geriatric Neurology, Dr. Abendroth has a special interest in the evaluation and treatment of headaches. She also provides general neurology care for patients with a full range of conditions related to the brain and nervous systems.
Dr. Abendroth is devoted to providing compassionate and respectful care. She focuses on collaboration with the patient, family members, and supportive specialists, as necessary, to help her patients achieve the best possible quality of life.
In her spare time, Dr. Abendroth and her husband have two children and enjoy the endless outdoor adventures in the area.
