He completed his ophthalmology residency at University of North Carolina followed by an Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital and Kresge Eye Institute. He is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is board certified in ophthalmology. He is past president of the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
