Dr. Boettcher sees patients who are admitted to UCSD Medical Center, Hillcrest. She is not available for selection as a primary care physician.
I am interested in a career in clinical investigation and am enrolled in the Clinical Research Enhancement through Supplemental Training (CREST) program. This eighteen month, NIH K30 funded program is designed for the development of individuals with specialized clinical skills to address research questions by working with human populations.
I am currently completing a chief medical residency on the outpatient service at the University of California San Diego. My main goals for this academic year are to immerse myself in the complex medical conditions encountered in a tertiary care hospital and to enhance my skills as a teacher and researcher. Next year, I will begin a gastroenterology fellowship at UCSD. My long-term aspiration is to become a transplant hepatologist at an academic center, which will allow me to conduct research to help elucidate the pathogenesis of liver dysfunction, in addition to mentoring future generations of hepatologists.
I look forward to a career serving as primary physician for chronically ill cirrhotic patients and taking care of critically ill pre- and post-transplant patients in the hospital.
