Dr. Eric Belanger is a board-certified neurosurgeon with two years of additional training (fellowship) in complex spine surgery which he completed at the University of Miami, Florida, after completing his neurosurgery training in Quebec Canada. Dr. Belanger joined St. Alexius Medical Center in 2005. Previously he was an associate professor of neurosurgery and a member of the Ortho / Neuro Spine Program at the University of Ottawa while practicing neurosurgery at the Ottawa hospital in Canada.
Dr. Belanger is a leader in minimally invasive spine surgery in the Midwest. Along with being a leader in this technique, Dr. Belanger trains other spine surgeons in minimally invasive surgery. He also has vast experience in the treatment of chronic pain, trauma, tumors, and complex afflictions of the spine. Dr. Belanger has played and coached hockey. He and his wife, Maryse Matthieu, MD, an anesthesiologist, and their four young children enjoy sailing and cross country skiing.
