Dr. Douglas Garland is the Medical Director of the Memorialcare Joint Replacement Center. He is also a member of Memorial Orthopedic Surgical Group. His clinical and research interests include:
1. Total joint arthroplasties hip and knee
2. Arthroscopies-knee and shoulder
3. Heterotopic ossifications
4. Osteoporosis
Dr. Garland has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed articles and 25 book chapters. He is the Director of Neuromuscular Services-- a 150 patient unit of individuals with spinal cord and head injuries. He was the former Chief of Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Fracture and Spinal Cord Injury Services at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center.
Dr Garland holds multiple committee positions and is a board member and former President (1999-2000) of the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA). He is the current Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Garland received his medical degree at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and completed his postgraduate residency training in orthopedic surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans. He completed his fellowship in neuromuscular diseases at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, Calif.
