Dirk Pikaart, DO, is a graduate from Michigan State University of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his medical internship at Metropolitan Hospital, his residency in OB/GYN at Mercy General Health Partners in Michigan, and his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Florida Hospital Cancer Institute in Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Pikaart is board certified in Gynecologic Oncology, Obstetrics and Gynecology. During his fellowship training, Dr. Pikaart's research studies were published in a variety of professional journals and he was asked to present an abstract at the annual SGO conference in 2007 on the Clinical Pathological and Morbidity Analysis of Types 2 and 3 Abdominal Radical Hysterectomy for Cervical Cancer. Dr. Pikaart is currently an active member of several professional organizations including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Pikaart brings a wealth of experience in advanced chemotherapeutics and radical gynecologic surgery, and provides progressive medical and surgical techniques at Penrose Cancer Center including: •specialized gyn cancer surgery •intraperitoneal chemotherapy •radical robotic surgery •carbon dioxide laser surgery •laproscopic (minimal access) surgery •vulvectomies •subclavian and intraperitonial ports •dysplasia treatment •other minimally invasive surgical approaches His goal is to provide the best care possible for the women of southern Colorado, empowering his patients in the fight against cancer by addressing the medical, surgical, emotional and spiritual aspects of cancer treatment.
