Electrophysiology - the study of the heart's electrical system - is the key interest of Dr. Denise Sorrentino. By using special diagnostic equipment, she can determine the paths of electrical impulses that trigger each heartbeat.
A native of Oak Lawn, IL, Dr. Sorrentino earned a biology degree from Loyola University, Chicago; and a medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She then completed a residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals, and cardiology and electrophysiology fellowships at Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta. She joined Iowa Heart Center in 1996.
Dr. Sorrentino is board certified in cardiology and electrophysiology and currently practices at Iowa Heart Center's clinic in Ames.
