Dr. Haigney moved to Maine in 1985 and became a staff physician at Mid-Maine Medical Center in Waterville. He later directed their Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program and helped start their Occupational Medicine program. He also was the medical director and founder of Maine's first comprehensive chronic pain treatment program. In 1987, he became a consultant to New England Rehab Hospital in Portland and helped them start their inpatient chronic pain program.
