Brief Intro

Dr. David P. Barney, DDS has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry since he graduated from Northwestern Dental School in Chicago, IL in 1977. Prior to this he received his Bachelor of Science degree from Church College of Hawaii (now BYU of Hawaii), in 1974. Dr. Barney began his practice of dentistry in downtown Beaverton with his Uncle, Dr. Gordon Stratford. In 1985, Dr. Stratford retired and Dr. David Barney continued to build his growing practice until his longtime staff member and scheduling coordinator, Mary Kauppila suggested that we move to the up and coming area in South Beaverton Murrayhill. Dr. Barney was one of the first tenants in the Murrayhill Shopping Center in 1988 and one of the longest termed tenants to date. Dr. David Barney has been married to his wife Doreen for 35 years and together they have five children: Doug, a salesman and father to their first grandchild Kaya; Dave, the young Dr. Barney; Deanna, a nurse practitioner at St. Vincent Hospital; Darwin, shortstop for the AAA Chicago Cubs & father to grandchild Hayden; Darilyn, aspiring singer, actor and math teacher. Dr. Barney was a vital member of establishing the Murrayhill Little League and has sponsored a major league team since 1992 as well as coached for eight years, including managing the All Star Team. Dr. Barney has coached in the Beaverton Babe Ruth league and has helped with the Southridge High School boys and girls basketball programs. He is an ongoing sponsor of the Southridge American Legion Baseball program. Dr. Barney likes to spend his free time on the golf course but would rather watch up and coming athletes, since he has worked as a baseball scout for the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs.
