Born and raised in New York, David J. Choi, DO, FACC, FSCAI, joined Lutheran Medial Group as an interventional cardiologist in August 2011. Dr. Choi came to LMG from Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, N.Y., where he was a hospitalist. Prior to that, he was a house physician at St. Francis Hospital in Port Washington and at North Shore University Hospital in Syosset. Dr. Choi has extensive experience in interventional cardiology and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Choi completed a bachelors degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1996. He completed two years of medical research, with publications, at the University of Michigan Medical Center, and he earned a medical degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, N.Y., in 2003, where he also completed a one-year, competitive fellowship in osteopathy. He completed a residency in internal medicine in 2006 at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, N.Y., where he was named chief medical resident. Also at Winthrop University Hospital, he completed a fellowship in cardiology and was elected chief fellow in 2010, and he completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology and was awarded the Outstanding Fellow of the Year award in 2011. Dr. Choi, a scholar of osteopathy and interventional cardiology, is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology subspecialties. He was recognized in the Consumers Research Council of Americas "Guide to Americas Top Cardiologists." He is actively involved in research, has published numerous articles and serves as a mentor to interns and residents. Dr. Choi also volunteers at various community organizations.
