Michael Kalina, D.O., is a member of Christiana Care's Trauma/Critical Care Services. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in biology from Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., and his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, N.Y. His general surgical internship and residency were completed at St. Claire's Hospital and St. Barnabas Hospital, respectively, in New York. Dr. Kalina also completed a fellowship in trauma/critical care and acute-care surgery at Christiana Care.
Dr. Kalina is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American College of Chest Physicians, the Southeastern Surgical Congress, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the American Medical Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. His special interests include clinical research in surgical critical care and trauma, the management of complicated skin and soft-tissue wounds, the acute care of patients with traumatic brain injury and emergency general surgery.
