As a transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon, Daniel Kuehler, MD, seeks to build deep and trusting relationships with his patients to inspire their confidence in his intellect and surgical skills. He understands that his specialty often involves operating on patients after only briefly meeting; his goal is to make them as comfortable and informed as possible throughout this life-changing process.
Growing up, Dr. Kuehler’s father was a carpenter and a paramedic. He found himself constantly working on various construction projects and listening to medical stories. This influenced his decision to specialize in surgery as it seemed like an obvious marriage between both medicine and carpentry.
Dr. Kuehler’s clinical specialties include kidney and liver transplantation, living donor nephrectomies and dialysis access. His practice focuses on the treatment of kidney and liver end-organ failure, liver cancer, complex biliary pathology and the evaluation of healthy individuals for potential living donor transplantation.
Dr. Kuehler received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska. He went on to complete his general surgery residency at Leigh Valley Health Network, followed by his transplant surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He is an active member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.
