Dr. Burton is a native of Hannibal. He earned his degree from the Department of Chemistry at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduation he served a general surgery internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at Southern Illinois University, Springfield. Dr. Burton is board certified by The American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Burton is a fellow of The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a fellow of The American College of Surgeons, a board member of the Hannibal Hospital Foundation Board, and a board member of The Northeast Missouri Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Burton is a Southern Illinois University Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Burton and his wife Debra have four children: Kristen, Jacqueline, Philip, and Louis. The Burtons are members of the First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal.
