Brief Intro

CREIGHTON B. WRIGHT, MD, MBA, CPE, FACS, FAHA, FACPE Cardiac, Vascular & Thoracic Surgeon NOVEMBER 1, 2009 Creighton B. Wright came to Cincinnati in 1981 as a member of Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic Surgeons, Inc. The group presently consists of sixteen surgeons doing the full spectrum of cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery and vascular diagnosis in the major health systems in greater Cincinnati. The group has been recognized as HALL OF FAME for BEST PLACES TO WORK. Dr. Wright joined the staffs of the Christ and the Jewish Hospitals in 1981 and served as Director of the Department of Surgery and Program Director for the General Surgery Residency at the Jewish Hospital from 1988-2002. In 1988, he was elected to the Board of Trustees at the Jewish Hospital, and in addition served on the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff and the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Wright served as the Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services for The Health Alliance of Cincinnati, a five hospital Health Care System from 2000-2003. He founded and continues to serve as Medical Director of the Vascular Laboratory of the St. Elizabeth Healthcare System. He is the first and continuing Medical Director of the Cincinnati State Medical Ultrasound Diagnostic Vascular Program. He is a native of Washington, DC and graduated from Duke University where he was an Angier B. Duke Scholar. He is an honor medical graduate, Alpha Omega Alpha from Duke University Medical School, 1965. Dr. Wright later attended Xavier University and received his MBA in 1995. He did his general and cardiovascular-thoracic surgical residencies at the University of Virginia. In 1971, he went on active duty during the Vietnam Conflict, as a member of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Colonel Wright served in the reserves as commander of the 73rd Combat Support Hospital USAR from 1978 to 1981, 256th General Hospital USAR from 1988 to 1991, and Chief of Professional Services for the 803rd Medical Group at King Khalid Military City, Saudi Arabia, during Desert Storm. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Units under his guidance were awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Dr. Wright also has received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two (2) oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Medal (with bronze star) the Southwest Asia Service Medal with (2) service stars, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal. Dr. Wright has been recognized as a scientist and educator with over 200 publications, including four books. He has received teaching awards at The University of Virginia, Georgetown University, and Jewish Hospital. Dr. Wright has received the Kaplan Visionary Physician Award , The Award of Excellence, and The Distinguished Service Award from the American Heart Association. He is a Fellow or Member of many professional societies and has been President of the Association for Academic Surgery, the Duke University Alumni Club of Cincinnati, the William H. Muller Surgical Society, the Cincinnati Surgical Society, The Greater Cincinnati Vascular Society, and the American Heart Association of Southwest Ohio. He was honored as a SIGNIFICANT SIG in 1995 and 150th HALL of FAME Sigma Chi in 2005 for his clinical and research work. Dr. Wright is listed in Who%u2019s Who in America and several other Who%u2019s Who citations. On the academic front, Dr. Wright has served on the faculties of George Washington University, The University of Iowa, The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and The University of Cincinnati. He presently is Professor of Surgery at U.Cincinnati, and Adjunct Professor at USUHS.
