Brief Intro

Craig Fichandler, M.D., returns to Louisville after completing a Rhinology Fellowship at the Georgia Nasal and Sinus Center under the guidance of one of the pioneers of functional sinus surgery, Dr. Frederick Kuhn. He is one of the only fellowship-trained rhinologists in the region and specializes in complex adult and pediatric nasal and sinus disorders, including the medical and surgical treatment of chronic sinusitis, allergic fungal sinusitis, revision sinus surgery, frontal sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty, skullbase and sinonasal tumors, computer guided surgery, and other nasal disorders. Dr. Fichandler remains committed to treating the full spectrum of adult and pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders, including the diagnosis and treatment of allergies. Dr. Fichandler earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at James Madison University in Virginia, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and with distinction. He was a member of multiple honor societies at James Madison University, including the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Fraternity. He remained in Virginia to continue his medical education at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Fichandler completed his surgical internship at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital in Chicago prior to arriving at the University of Louisville for his Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) residency. During his residency he conducted research and presented his findings at national conferences. His dedication to otolaryngology was recognized during his chief resident year, when he received the Serge A. Martinez Award - awarded to the resident who has contributed the most in maintaining a standard of excellence in the University of Louisville Otolaryngology program. He is board certified and is a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Fichandlerâ€™s active community involvement led him to volunteer for medical missions to Morocco and the Philippines. Additionally, he spent time working for the American Cancer Society, which sparked his interest in ear, nose and throat surgery. Dr. Fichandler lives in Louisville with his wife Anne and dog Colonel. They enjoy the Louisville area immensely â€“ and are both avid Cardinals fans. They spend their free time enjoying cooking, home improvement projects and touring local parks. He also enjoys bicycling, the visual arts and building computers.
