Dr. Leichter grew up in the Five Towns. He graduated with honors from Kenyon College and received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1974. He completed his medical internship and then his dermatology residency at New York University Medical Center from 1974-1978. Dr. Leichter went on to private practice, opening his first office in 1978 in the Rockville Centre/Oceanside area. He remained on the faculty on NYU until 1978 as an Assistant Clinical Professor, and since 1983 he has been Chief of Dermatology at South Nassau Communities Hospital. He has a strong interest in general dermatology and skin cancer. Other long-term interests include laser surgery and the restoration of the aging face.
