Dr. Vatel received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine in 1995. He went on to complete his psychiatry residency at the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program in Boston, MA in 1999. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA in 2000. He has been board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 2000 and has fulfilled maintenance of certification requirements in 2010 and 2020. Dr. Vatel's clinical experience includes both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings in the Evansville area and in New England. Dr. Vatel's professional interests include exploring the relationship between psychiatry and culture, participating in medical education, and developing a genuine therapeutic alliance with his patients.
