Bassem Mora, MD, MBA, is a board-certified pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgeon with over 20 years of experience in the field. Dr. Mora delivers expert care for both kids and adults in the Orlando area. Dr. Mora is an experienced neonatal heart surgeon, utilizing newer perfusion techniques to minimize the trauma of pediatric heart surgery. He has extensive experience performing adult congenital heart surgeries and is an expert in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, utilizing smaller incisions and early extubation in order to expedite patient recovery and healing.Dr. Mora earned his undergraduate degree from the California Institute of Technology and his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. He completed a residency in general surgery at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital and a research fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Washington University School of Medicine, where he also earned a Master of Business Administration. He completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital, where he achieved the rank of chief resident. He completed his pediatric cardiac surgery training at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children's Hospital, then remained on staff as an attending physician in pediatric cardiac surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery in cardiothoracic and congenital cardiac surgery. He is also board-certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in cardiac surgery.
