Avery B. Lisenbe, M.D. is a member of the team at Emergency Medicine South, and practices in the Emergency Departments at both East Alabama Medical Center and EAMC-Lanier, as well as the Freestanding Emergency Department in Auburn. Dr. Lisenbe earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed her residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. During her residency, Dr. Lisenbe won the Emergency Medicine Spirit Award.Dr. Lisenbe is originally from Montgomery, Ala. She chose to practice medicine after seeing her father, who is a surgeon, and her mother, who is a nurse, devote themselves to the care of others. After seeing the impact her father had on his patients while she was working in his office, Dr. Lisenbe knew she wanted to become a doctor. Dr. Lisenbe and her husband, Jake, chose to move to the Auburn/Opelika area because of its family feel and the sense of community she felt at East Alabama Health. In her spare time, Dr. Lisenbe is enjoys playing with her goldendoodles, water skiing, gardening, cooking, and spending time outdoors.
