A native of Los Angeles, Dr. Athleo Louis Cambre, Jr., attended Stanford University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Human Biology.
After achieving his Doctorate in Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Cambre completed a five year post-doctoral residency training in General Surgery at the University of Colorado, followed by a Burn Fellowship at New York Hospital / Cornell University Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Cambre concluded his postgraduate training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Cambre is double board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of numerous regional and national organizations in Plastic Surgery, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, serving on numerous committees in these organizations.
In addition to his private aesthetic and reconstructive surgery practice, Dr. Cambre contributes to the future of his specialty as a Clinical Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at UCLA/Olive View Medical Center, teaching medical students and residents in Plastic Surgery.
To promote greater public understanding of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Cambre often speaks before community groups and serves as a resource for journalists through the Aesthetic Society Spokesperson program.
Dr. Cambre has authored or co-authored a number of publications in the surgical literature, and has lectured to his colleagues at regional and local meetings and conferences on Plastic Surgery. Dr. Cambre's television appearances include NBC News, Fox News, Discovery Health, Good Day, L.A., and The Home and Family Show.
Beyond the extraordinary service he provides to his patients, Dr. Cambre is an active leader in numerous community activities as well. He has served on the Boards of Directors of Catholic Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the West Los Angeles Little League. Dr. Cambre also has coached several youth sports teams including Little League Baseball, Softball, and AYSO Soccer. His personal interests include mountaineering and technical rock climbing, skiing and snowboarding, cycling, basketball, and golf.
