Dr. Carey attended Jefferson Medical College and completed his general surgery training at Tulane University, plastic surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt University, and continued his studies in Mexico City training in aesthetics surgery and craniofacial surgery. Upon his arrival in 1985, Dr. Carey was the first board certified plastic surgeon to settle in Southern Delaware, of which he is a native. Dr. Carey is a member and spokesman for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and other medical societies. Over the years, he has been active on the boards and fundraising committees of a number of community organizations, and has developed his broad knowledge of plastic surgery to specialize in aesthetic plastic surgery. His practice includes lasers otherwise unavailable in the area, as well as the latest technology. Dr. Carey is an FDA investigator for a new body contouring device, Bodytite. In his spare time, Dr. Carey enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, martial arts, sailing, skiing, and figure and portrait sculpture.
