Arthur M. Boyd M.D. graduated from college at East Tennessee State University and medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He completed a residency in family medicine at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis in 1974. He maintains certification by the American Board of Family Practice.
Dr. Boyd is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians, the Tennessee Medical Association and the Sullivan County Medical Society. He serves presently on the Board of Directors of Highlands Physicians Inc. Dr. Boyd has previously served as member and past president of the Board of Directors of Mountain Region Family Medicine. He has served as Medical Director for Wellmont Holston Valley Home Health for 18 years and as Director of Hospice for 9 years. Dr. Boyd served on the Committee of Program Directives at Quillen School of Medicine for the past 18 years. He is the past Chairman of the Department of Family Practice at Wellmont Holston Valley and served on the cancer committee, quality assurance committee, continuing education committee and the Ischemic Stroke Pathway committee.
Dr. Boyd loves music! He plays guitar for his own "amazement," likes fishing, golf and playing with his dog and cat.
