Board-certified cardiologist Dr. Tontiplaphol, also known as Dr. Art, was exposed to the medical profession at an early age. He accompanied his father, an internist, on house calls and often watched his mother, a radiologist, at work, too. Today, Dr. Artâ€™s young son and daughter have four grandparents who are physicians! After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry from Rice University in Houston, Texas, Dr. Tontiplaphol studied medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his internship and residency at University of Virginia Health Science Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, and completed his Cardiovascular Diseases fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/Methodist Debakey Heart Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Tontiplaphol practiced with South Texas Cardiovascular Consultants for four years before joining Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio in 2010. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography and Cardiovascular CT. Dr. Tontiplaphol is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of a number of other professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, and the American Heart Association. â€œAs a medical specialty, cardiology offers the best of everythingâ€”advanced pathophysiology, imaging, procedures, medications, and the privilege of caring for patients.
