Dr. Andrew Rong is a board-certified ophthalmologist at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute with fellowship specialization in oculoplastic, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgery. He is focused on caring for patients with a variety of eyelid and orbital disorders by utilizing modern medical and surgical therapies.A native of California, Dr. Rong graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. He received his medical degree at the University of California, Davis where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors. Dr. Rong subsequently completed his residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where he remained to complete an additional fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. His clinical practice focuses on improving outcomes for patients with functional eyelid and orbital diseases as well as providing surgical options for cosmetic facial rejuvenation.Outside of his busy clinical practice, he spends his time on translational research in the Al-Rashid Orbital Research Center where he works to discover novel therapeutics for a variety of disorders ranging from thyroid eye disease to ocular adnexal sebaceous carcinoma. During his practice, he has developed new reconstruction techniques in orbital oncology and explored the vascular changes that occur between orbital diseases and the eye.
