Dr. Amit Patel joined Buffalo Medical Group, PC, in July 2010 after completing two years of fellowship training in nephrology at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC)).
Board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Dr. Patel's areas of special interest include glomerular diseases (diseases affecting the kidneys), kidney stones and home dialysis therapy.
Dr. Patel earned a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery at University Government Medical College, Surat, India, He completed a four-year residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, NJ, and worked as a clinical assistant professor there prior to his fellowship training at URMC.
He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, Renal Physicians Association,, American College of Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.
He has attended specialized conferences and received training to enhance his skills in the evaluation and management of glomerular diseases, and also participated in specialized training related to peritoneal dialysis and in-home dialysis, and kidney transplantation.
During his residency and fellowship training in nephrology at URMC, Dr. Patel served as a co-investigator for several research projects.
With BMG, Dr. Patel joins an established and well-respected nephrology team that includes Romesh K. Kohli, MD, Inkee Min, MD, and Nagaraja R. Sridhar, MD.
