Brief Intro

A. Alan Chu, M.D. received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and his Medical Degree from Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He completed his Internal Medicine and Cardiology Fellowships at Duke University Medical Center. Subsequently Dr. Chu was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University from 1987 until 1990. In 1990, Dr. Chu relocated to Peoria, Illinois, and practiced cardiology until his relocation to Amarillo in 2006. Currently, he has continued his affiliation with Duke University as an Assistant Consulting Professor of Medicine. Dr. Chu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Chu is also Board Certified in Interventional Cardiology. He is a member of the Potter-Randall Medical Society, the Texas Medical Society and the American Medical Association. Dr. Chu has been the principal investigator for many clinical research studies designed to advance our knowledge, understanding, and treatment in patients with acute coronary syndrome and heart attacks, patients with congestive heart failure and patients with high cholesterol. He is the Principal Investigator of multiple clinical trials that are ongoing at Amarillo Heart Clinical Research Institute. A. Alan Chu, M.D. practices Interventional Cardiology, Invasive and Clinical Cardiology. Dr. Chu’s practice emphasizes Routine and Complex Coronary Angioplasty and Stenting; Diagnostic Right and Left Heart Catheterization; Diagnostic Coronary Angiograms; Physiological Testing including Nuclear Stress Tests and 2D Echocardiography; Clinical Cardiology including Heart Failure Management and Lipid Management.
