Dr. Albert McBride is Chief of the Urology Department at Kern Medical Center. He joined the staff at KMC in 1997 after practicing urology for 25 years in San Diego. He served as cancer liaison at KMC for several years and is very active in helping the American Cancer Society in Bakersfield. Dr. McBride has had numerous teaching awards and has been voted Faculty Teacher of the Year several times at KMC. Dr. McBride served as a Lt. Commander aboard the USS Repose, a Naval hospital ship stationed in Vietnam in 1968-1969, and from 1969-1970 he served at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. He went on to private practice in Urology in San Diego with numerous hospital affiliations including the teaching staff at UC San Diego Department of Urology. Dr. McBride has been a consultant on the treatment of exotic venomous snake bites at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. and the San Diego Zoo. He continues as consultant to the San Diego Zoo and is a charter member of the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species (CRES) at the San Diego Zoo.
